Our Giving Tuesday generated a month of donations for The Cradle. Plus, puppies.

December 2017

The CradleWe’re delighted to announce that our month-long Giving Tuesday 2017 campaign raised more than $2,500 for The Cradle—the only adoption agency in the country with an on-site nursery. (StudioNorth employees chose The Cradle based on Rob Schueneman’s personal and compelling story.)

We filled the 17 work days in November with fun, Studio-wide activities and incentives designed to encourage donations from Studio members. Here are some of the highlights:

November 1—Collecting for coffee

Kicking things off on November 1, we forfeited our usual endless flow of coffee from the beloved office Keurig and instead chipped in $1 per cup. Cindy Denikas and Eric Pound, who average a whopping 5 cups of coffee a day, were our top contributors.

November 2—Bad hair for a good cause

The following day, Studio members gave donations in exchange for the opportunity to share embarrassing or fun photos of themselves throughout the years. Our favorites were yearbook photos of Shannon and Andy, both from 1989, sporting matching styles that can only be described with one word: hairspray.

November 7—Hats off to The Cradle

StudioNorth employees always wear many hats, but on this particular Tuesday we added some extra flair by (literally) wearing our favorite accessory. White Sox hats were strongly discouraged.

Sweatshirts at work? Absolutely.

We will take any excuse to wear sweatshirts to work, especially for a good cause. On the 14th, SNers forwent their typical office attire and opted for their favorite hoodies and sweatshirts. Then, on the 16th, we repped our favorite sports teams and alma maters (except for Jeff Segal, who apparently graduated from the University of The Walking Dead).

November 17—Baggo happy hour

At 4:00, we cleared the tables and chairs in the kitchen for an old-fashioned baggo tournament, with StudioNorth baggo trophies circa 2007 as the coveted prize. Meanwhile, a case of Goose Island vanished.

Raffle madness

Throughout the month, Studio members also entered various raffles, with prizes including a lunch date with CEO Mark Mohr, a lunch for two (with the check picked up by the Studio), and a “mystery prize” that sings, dances, and gets us all into the holiday spirit. Special congratulations to Rob who, after bidding four times, deservedly scored a lunch with Mark.

November 22—Bring your pet to work day… AKA PUPPIES EVERYWHERE!

The best day of the month, because, obviously. (See photos below. Be jealous.)

We had lots of fun, but we were also incredibly grateful to be able to give back to an organization that has given so much to the families of StudioNorth. The money we raised will help secure 100 days of diapers, 10 days of 24-hour care for one baby, or 50 pacifiers!

Nationwide, it was another record-setting year for Giving Tuesday, with more than 7,200 organizations donating nearly $61 million.

We encourage you to give back this holiday season and find out how you can make it matter where it matters to you. It’s never too early to start planning your 2018 Giving Tuesday campaign!
